With the ultra-light Katadyn BeFree 1.0 liter, it is no problem pulling out on adventure no matter how long you intend to be away. With Katadyn BeFree you always have access to clean drinking water, no matter where you are. Fill the flexible, foldable container with water and voila - clean water. Thanks to a smart and flexible solution for filtering with a Hydrapak soft flask and a Hollow Fiber filter, you get water treatment directly in the water bottle. This technology, ie small narrow long straws with small thin holes in, gives a high flow rate.
The filter with the entire screw cap can be purchased separately as a spare part and can also be combined with other Hydrapak products with the same dimension on the cap.
The basic rule for all water treatment is to take water from as running a source as possible, to avoid to a large extent to take water from stationary water collections with clearly cloudy contents. If possible, choose water a bit from the shore edge and preferably not the surface water.
The purification is done with 0.1 micron precision, which reduces protozoa by 99.9% and bacteria by 99.9999%. The transparent bottle makes it easy to see how much water is in and also keep track of how much water you drink. The filter can withstand about 1000 liters of water treatment (more if you clean only clear water and less if you clean turbid water).
If the filter is turned off too much turbid water, it is easily cleaned by the so-called "EZ-Clean advantage" ie having water in the bottle and shaking it vigorously. Alternatively, unscrew the filter and dip it in water and swish it quickly from side to side in the water. Then the debris comes loose and you can continue to clean water again. Note that the filter should never be rinsed horizontally under a tap, it may ruin the filter.
