GDPR and Privacy Policy

Backpackinglight AB Org: 556961-7441 is the data controller for the personal data you choose to provide to us. We respect your privacy, process your personal data in accordance with applicable legislation and are open about what we collect, why we do it, how we use it and how you have control over the information you have chosen to provide to us.   What personal data do we collect from you and why?   Name & address to be able to send packages to you. Mobile phone (optional) to be able to contact you if necessary and be able to phone / sms-notify deliveries. Email address (becomes our unique "customer number" for you) to be able to send order confirmation and other necessary communication (for example, when we adjust the terms of purchase or privacy policy). This is also true in reverse. We need to know that "you are you" when you email us and, for example, want to change your phone number, residential address or something else in the personal information we have about you. Newsletters (Mailchimp) are voluntary and can be signed up / unsubscribed just how/ when you want. You can also sign up for our newsletter completely separately without being a customer / registered and just by entering your email address. This then does not fall under GDPR as your email address is not linked to any other information.

Cookies for the website to function properly. We use so-called session cookies during your visit to the webshop and they are saved for one hour. For example, should you accidentally close the browser, you can return to the website within that hour and continue without the shopping cart being empty.
For our ads, we also collect cookies to retarget certain ads. This applies to Facebook, Instagram, Google and Youtube. Cookies process device information and personal data. The information is used for the purpose of integrating content, external third-party services, statistical analysis/measurement, personalized advertising and social media integration. Depending on the function, data is passed on to third parties and processed by them. This consent is voluntary and is not required for the use of our website, and can be revoked at any time using the icon at the bottom left. This is approved when you visit our site for the first time. If you want to turn off, there is a cookie in the right corner that you can click on and turn off cookie tracking.

In the webshop, we use SVEA, PayPal and SWISH as a payment provider as a checkout solution in our webshop. There, it is SVEA themselves who are responsible for personal data and your contractual partner. Contact SVEAS customer service if you have questions regarding your personal data there. BACKPACKINGLIGHT thus does NOT collect social security numbers, credit card information, etc. that have to do with payment, creditworthiness, etc. when you shop in our webshop.

How do we protect your personal data? It is we, BACKPACKINGLIGHT, who are responsible for personal data both internally and externally (with the help of contracted so-called personal data assistants for IT services, distribution and administration) and we are responsible for ensuring that your personal data is stored and processed in the best, safest possible way.

How long do we save your personal data? We save your data as long as you are a registered customer and when you place an order, this information is saved for 36 months. This is due to the right of complaints, warranty commitments and to comply with statutory storage times.  Your rights of access, rectification and erasure

Right to access your data. All the information we have saved about you can be seen on "Your account" when you log in. You can look for yourself or request a copy of this data. Right to rectification. On "Your Account" you can change and/or supplement most of the information about yourself. You can also email us at info@backpackinglight.se if you want help with this. Right to be deleted ("right to be forgotten"). You have the right to request deletion of your personal data that we process if the data is no longer needed to fulfill our obligations to you, such as consumer law (warranty periods, right of complaint, etc.) or other legal obligation.   For further information about personal data management, or if you have questions, you are welcome to contact us at:

On May 25, 2018, a new EU-wide law regarding personal data came into force, it is called GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation. The General Data Protection Regulation in Swedish) and is a replaced/strengthened variant of the Personal Data Act (PUL). At Backpackinglight, we of course care about the integrity of our customers, suppliers and our staff. We make sure to comply with the GDPR and make the changes, documentation and other measures required to comply with the law. Although in some paragraphs it is a bit fuzzy.
